Carowinds chaperones/Band Polos for pictures tomorrow

Good afternoon,

Please make sure that your student brings their band polo to school tomorrow. We will put them on for our class pictures during class. Jeans and regular school shoes are okay for the lower half.

Carowinds:

As I am looking through my chaperone list for Carowinds I do not see anyone who has paid the extra $85 to get a single room. If you would like a room to yourself as a chaperone then I will need to know ASAP so that they can reserve those rooms for you. If not then you will be paired with another chaperone of the same gender. These are the chaperones that I have attending the trip:

Connie Easterwood
Molly Camp
Devondreale Williams
Danielle Miley
Jasmine Hopkins Arnold
Katie Reid
Tiffany Landrum
Kim Huett
Samantha Hawks

Please let me know if you are okay with the paired room or if you would like a single room. Single rooms add $85 on top of your $150 chaperone fee.

Announcements

Good evening,

We had an incredible end to our week!

Book Signing:

Congratulations to our very own Madison Pate for becoming a published author!

Below are some pictures from her book signing that was held in the media center. Please consider supporting her by purchasing her book from this website: https://www.madison-pate.com/

We are so proud of you!

Jazz Band:

Jazz band will begin tomorrow and will rehearse every Monday and Wednesday at 7:45 in the morning until 8:15. All students who play trumpet, trombone, saxophone, percussion, bass guitar and electric guitar are welcome! No sign up or fees necessary.

Carowinds:

The next installment of $50 for Carowinds is due this Thursday, the 28th. Students should have received a form that lists how much money they owe on their trip. If you have any concerns then let me know.

AYP Fundraiser:

Please continue selling AYP Cards. They are $15 each and if you purchase 5 you receive one for free. 8th graders earn $3 towards their Carowinds trip per each card sold.

Pre LGPE:

Congratulations to our 7th and 8th grade bands on their performance on Thursday. That performance gave us some valuable insight as we continue pushing towards LGPE on March the 13th. Getting to rehearse in the hall where our evaluations will occur gives us a great advantage. We are thankful to Temple high school for inviting the Carrollton bands to share that concert.

I am so proud of what our band is becoming. Our students are polite, hard working, professional, well behaved, and even are starting to become proactive and resolve things before they even have a chance to become an issue. I am so extremely proud of the music that they make but most of all, I am proud of who they are growing up to be. Thank you for entrusting me with these incredible humans that push and inspire me daily. Being a part of our band programs takes a lot of time commitment and sacrifice. I am so grateful for the parents who volunteer and for the students who make our program what it is.

Please come and support them on March 13th for their performance at the Carroll County Performing Arts Center. 7th grade performs at 3:15PM and 8th grade performs at 6:00PM. Itineraries coming soon.

Go Trojan Band!

Sincerely,

Ms. Menendez

Symphonic Camp Recap and Rehearsals

Good evening,

I hope that the kids had a blast at Symphonic Camp this Saturday! I personally learned so much and enjoyed watching the kids learn as well from new teachers. It was also a joy to have some fellowship time with our band afterwards and hang out. I am extremely thankful for the parents that pulled through and helped with rides, set up, clean up, and lunch. Trust me, I could not have done this without you!

This week we have normal rehearsals with 7th grade tomorrow until 5:00 PM and 8th grade on Tuesday until 5:00 PM.

Because of the incredible work going on in class and rehearsals I have decided to cancel the following rehearsals to allow students to attend sports, tutoring, and other activities full time on those days:

7th Grade February 25th

8th Grade February 26th

Please mark those off of your calendars.

Our next concert is on February 21st at the Carroll County Performing Arts Center. Students will be bussed too and from that concert. Time details will be released to you all once I know them.

District Honor Band:

DHB begins this Thursday! PLEASE read through the itinerary below to make sure that you are up to date on everything. If you have not turned in your hotel money and permission slip, please do so this week.

Have a wonderful rest of your weekend!

Rehearsals and Symphonic Camp

Good evening,

This week we begin our first Large Group Evaluation rehearsals. This is our most intensive part of the year so having students present at all rehearsals, concerts, and our Symphonic Camp is vital. These events are also a grade as this course is a performance based course. Missing a single student makes a big difference since each student carries so much weight in our ensemble. Please make sure that if you see any conflicts in any way that you contact me as soon as you know. Here is our schedule for the semester.

This week:

Monday: 7th grade after school rehearsal until 5.

Tuesday: 8th grade after school rehearsal until 5.

Saturday: Symphonic Camp @ CJHS 9 AM – 12 PM (Noon).

Students report at 8:30 AM to CJHS. Teaching occurs from 9 AM – 12 PM. At noon students are dismissed if they need to leave but are encouraged to stay for fellowship time in the cafeteria. We will have Chick-fil-A along with chips, sodas, and homemade desserts. Students will play board games, video games, dance to music or play outside if desired!

If you are able to volunteer at our Symphonic Camp through serving food or donating a dessert or side please contact me at maria.menendez@carrolltoncityschools.net

AYP Cards:

AYP Cards are hopefully set to be delivered the week of February 18th. Go ahead and start rounding up your customers!

L.G.P.E. Concerts:

February 21st and March 13th are the concerts that we are aiming towards right now. Both our Pre- L.G.P.E. concert and the actual adjudicated L.G.P.E. concert occur at the Carrollton Performing Arts Center, not the Mabry Arts Center on campus. Students will be bussed to and from both concerts. Times are being finalized with our district host at the moment and will be shared with you once I know them.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Ms. Menendez
