PARKING INFORMATION
• Student/Parent Parking:
o Students and parents are asked to use the second entrance to campus off Pine Grove Road
(not the main entrance) and park in the lot closest to the football field.
▪ This provides a more direct route to the registration entrance (near the gym).
▪ This entrance also accesses the main parking lot should the lot closest to the field
be full.

Students should wear semi-formal attire (no jeans). Please report to Cartersville Middle School at Noon to check in and warm-up. Auditions begin at 1 PM. I will be in the warm-up room and can check in with you all once you get there. Once you are done auditioning you may head out and enjoy the rest of your Saturday!


Carowinds:

The next Carowinds payment of $50 is due next Friday, December 10th. This includes students and chaperones.

The current chaperones are Sara Peden, Anne Lussier, Yvonne Haley, Lindsay Carr, Nakeshia Duncan, Melissa Parham, Dwight Parhap, and Grace Pippin.

Please let me know if there are any errors here.


After School Rehearsals:

We have our after school rehearsal next week for both grades as we prepare for our next concert. Please ensure that your student is in attendance as this is for a grade.

7th Grade rehearsal after school December 6th until 5:00 PM

8th Grade rehearsal after school December 7th until 5:00 PM

Winter Concert December 14th from 7-8 PM at Mabry Arts Center

District Honor Band Information

Good morning,

I want to take a moment to thank every single person who assisted during our UWG concert trip. We had a blast and I appreciate your flexibility and willingness to do what was needed to ensure that the students had a great time. Dr. Byrd spoke highly about our students and band program. The concert was truly unforgettable and I am so glad that our students got to experience it!


District Honor Band

DHB auditions will occur next Saturday, December 4th at Cartersville Middle School.

The audition time for CJHS is 1 PM. I recommend having your student there at noon so that they can check in, warm up, and be the first in line after the lunch shift is over for the judges. As soon as your student finishes auditioning they are free to go and enjoy the rest of their Saturday. All students will be screened by me the week that we come back from break to ensure that they have a successful run on Saturday. They will notify you if the two of us feel like they are ready to audition this year. I will be at the audition sight all day as I am working the warm up room so I will see you all the day of! Please make sure that those students are staying in shape and practicing this break leading up to the auditions. I am proud of them for their work so far.

Veteran’s Day Assembly/UWG Field Trip/Carowinds Downpayment

Schedule for the week:

Monday: Money due for UWG Field Trip

Tuesday: DHB After school rehearsal until 4 PM

Thursday: Veteran’s Day Assembly performance *8th grade only* /DHB After School Rehearsal until 4 PM

Friday: UWG Field Trip/ Carowinds downpayment due *8th grade only*

Saturday: *Potential Trojan Pep Band Game for 8th-grade football team*


Veteran’s Day Assembly This Thursday:

Our 8th-grade band has the honor and privilege to play in the school-wide Veteran’s Day assembly each year. This occurs during the school day and all students will be excused from missing their classes. Students will be fed for free and need to wear their all-black concert attire.

Schedule:

8:15 AM Bus departs CJHS to bring students to CHS gym

(students who have a late bus will grab instruments and walk to CHS gym at their earliest convenience.

8:30 am  CES #1

9:20 am  CES #2

10:00 am  CHS #1 (Juniors & Seniors) (CJHS Band students watch ceremony)

11:15 am –  11:45 Subway Lunch in CHS band room <— Need volunteers to help with lunch.

12:00 pm   CUES

1:15 pm  CJHS

2:15 pm  CHS #2 (Freshman & Sophomores) CJHS students walk back with Ms. Menendez to CJHS during this time.


UWG Field Trip Info and Google Form:

Volunteers report at 3:30 or earlier to help set up in the cafeteria.

The dress is business casual. Dresses, long skirts, nice pants, sweaters/polos/button-down shirts, etc. No tuxedos are necessary.

Carowinds Downpayment:

Please remember that your Carowinds downpayment for all 8th graders and chaperones is due this Friday, November 12th. You may pay in cash, check or online. The cookie dough fundraiser can lower that payment by 3 dollars per item sold. Take the number of items sold and multiply it by $3 to get your total off of the $50 deposit and entire trip payment in general.

UWG Field Trip Form/Cookie Dough Due Tomorrow

Good afternoon,

We have an exciting couple of weeks coming up!

Upcoming Dates:

  • 11/3 Cookie dough due
  • 11/5 UWG Field Trip form due
  • 11/8 UWG Field Trip money due
  • 11/11 Veteran’s Day Assembly Performance for 8th grade only
  • 11/12 Carowinds downpayment due (8th grade only)

Cookie Dough:

Please ensure that your order taker and money match upon turning in the cookie dough money tomorrow. Students should report to the band room in the morning as soon as they arrive at school to turn in their money and form in a sealed envelope.

If a student sold online orders then they do not have to do any work for that portion. It is automatically done for them!


UWG Field Trip Info and Google Form:
