Cancelled After-School Monday Practice Session

Good morning,

I have decided to make the call to cancel our after-school practice session today for the sixth grade students due to a heavy cold that is coming on for me. I do not feel that working with your students individually would be the greatest idea during this contagious period. They will be reminded to call home if needed to make sure that they have the correct transportation worked out.

Thank you for your understanding!

-Maria Menendez

Great Job Today!!!

Congrats to all the students today at Symphonic Camp. We hope you had a great time and also learned a lot. We couldn’t be more proud of you.

Remember Tuesday after school rehearsal for 7th grade band. 8th grade after school rehearsal on Thursday is cancelled due to us going to Disney with the HS marching band.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and we will see you Monday, don’t forget to bring your instruments on Monday.

“It’s time to take the next step up in musicianship!!!”

Welcome Back!!!

Hello band parents,

We certainly hope you had an excellent holiday season and we are looking forward to seeing you all again on Monday.

As we prepare for semester two each grade level is going to take another step up in their musicianship. We ask that each student and parent come up with a practice routine at home so that your child can be successful each and everyday in class and on stage.

Please also look at the calendar on the website and add those dates to your home calendar as we have several important rehearsals and performances.

7th and 8th grade students also add Saturday January 24th from 9am-3pm to your calendar. We will be hosting a symphonic band camp which is a day for the students to learn from a professional on their instrument, have a master class with a master teacher on stage, and have lunch and play some games with their friends. This is going to be such an amazing experience, please double check and keep that Saturday open.

This Wednesday we will be starting jazz band for all those 7th and 8th grade students who play trumpet, trombone, saxophone, and have experience playing electric guitar, bass, drumset and piano. There really is no audition, just come to the rehearsals 3-4:30 every Wednesday.

We will be having chair placement auditions this Wednesday-Friday in class. Each student will be required to play the F, Bb, Eb, Ab scales one or two octave. Any additional scale including chromatic scale will be worth more points towards your total. Please get practicing.

We will continue our Monday help sessions starting Monday Jan 12th for all 6th graders looking to get better after school.

8th grade parents please remember to get another deposit for Carowinds in by the end of the month.

Thanks again everyone, we look forward to seeing you all as we begin an exciting second semester.
