This Week in Band

Hello All,

I thought I would send out a few friendly reminders about the activities happening this week in band as we have a few of them.

Tuesday – Pre-LGPE (festival) Concert   7 – 8:45pm

  • 7th graders arrive in full uniform, shirt tucked in, at 6:30pm and report to the stage.
  • 8th graders arrive at 6:45pm in full uniform, shirt tucked in, and report to the blocked off area of seats with instruments put together.
  • This will will be a very long concert with a lot of fantastic music, if you need to leave before the end please do so between bands during the transition and not during a bands set.  I would ask that all JH band students watch each other before leaving.

FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS

I will have a sign-up sheet at the concert for those that wish to come.  I have around 6 – 7 parents that have contacted me about coming as a chaperone.  I will need much more help.  If you can come and help the band I will pay for your lunch / dinner.  Please consider coming and helping out, this is one of the most fun events of the year for the kids.

AYP CARD SALES AT THE CONCERT

If you would like to sell AYP cards at the concert please let email me, or come up and see me at the event.  We will be selling throughout the concert.

Thanks all.

Pre-Festival Performance Feb 28th

Hello all,

As you know the 7th and 8th grade bands will be performing next week at the Mabry Arts Center as a dress rehearsal for our festival performances in March.  This concert will feature our 7th and 8th grade bands as well as the high school bands.

I am very excited to see all of our band parents from the JH and HS bands together for one great concert to celebrate the beautiful music being made everyday here in the Carrollton City School System.

This will be a large concert, if you could limit the amount of people coming out to listen that would be great.  We want to make sure everyone gets a seat, and can enjoy all of the bands on stage in a great listening environment.

We will be welcoming 4 judges to judge the bands in a similar style that we will be judged at festival.  They will give us some extra comments to help us design our final rehearsal plans around in the days leading up to March 8th and 9th.

IMPORTANT CONCERT REMINDERS

7th graders please report at 6:30pm in full uniform, shirt tucked in (please DO NOT be late)

8th graders please report at 6:45pm in full uniform, shirt tucked in, to the section of seats blocked off for you.

If you are willing to hand out programs, or sell some AYP cards at the concert come up and see me at 6:30pm.

We will start right at 7pm.  The concert will go to about 8:30pm, we ask that you all stay to enjoy the high school bands.  You will not want to miss the excellent groups Mr. Carr and Mr. Robichaux have worked so hard to prepare.

Thank you to those who have already emailed to volunteer to be a chaperone at festival.  I have your email and recorded your name.  We can still use more, if you can get the time off work, or come out for a late night with the 8th graders I will need your help.

Thanks all, see you Tuesday evening.
