8th Grade Night/Cookie Dough Drop Off

Dear Band Family,

We are excited for next Friday, the 6th of October, because we will have our annual 8th grade night! This is a night where 8th grade band members get to experience a Friday night football game for free as a member of our Trojan Band. Our 8th graders will get to play our pre-game performance with the high school members as well as rock out in the stands with them! This is a required event for 8th grade. Please notify me immediately if your child has a conflict with that date. Below is our schedule for the night.

REPORT TIME: 4:45 at the High School Band Room

5 pm – Warm-up and learn pre-game with high school students on band practice field.

5:30 pm – Dinner will be provided by our band boosters as well as free t shirts made especially for your 8th graders to wear that night. We ask that the 8th graders wear blue jeans and shoes that they are able to walk around in. No sandals please.

6:25 pm – Students meet in band room to walk out for Amphitheater performance as well as Pre-Game

7:00 pm – Perform pre-game and National Anthem with high school band in stadium.

7:30 pm – 10:00 pm – Play entire game with high school band in the stands. Watch high school band from track during half time.

This is an incredible night full of fun for our 8th graders. It such an honor to be included with the high school marching band and we hope that you will be there to support your students. If you would like to volunteer with the high school volunteers then you may email me so that I can put you in touch with a high school volunteer coordinator.

I look forward to creating some unforgettable memories with you all next Friday, the 6th!

Cookie Dough is set to be delivered the 4th of October (next Wednesday) If you are able to come and help with the sorting that would be amazing. Please send me an email.

Sincerely,

Reminder (Trojan Band Rehearsal Tomorrow)

Good evening,

I have pasted my last post below to give you all a few reminders:

Due to school there being no school tomorrow or Tuesday I would like to have our Trojan Band rehearsal on Wednesday from 3:30-4:30. This is our only Trojan Band rehearsal for the season so I would like to make sure that we all feel comfortable for Thursday’s game.

The Trojan Band’s first game is this Thursday in Grisham Stadium. Below is our schedule:

4:45 PM students need to be dropped off at high school band room (behind away bleachers of Grisham Stadium)

5:00 PM Warm up in high school band room

5:30 PM play at football game and cheer on the football team

6:30 PM (roughly) Half Time: students come to high school band room to eat pizza.

7:00 PM (roughly) Students may be picked up from high school band room to go home

Student Dress Code: I am hoping that the hats and t shirts will come in by Thursday. If they do not then we will wear anything Trojan Spirit that you have. Shorts may be of any color. Tennis shoes are recommended since we stand a lot for the games. Please ensure that your student drinks lots of water. I would highly recommend bringing water with you to the game along with sunglasses!

Cookie Dough: Since we are missing school on Monday and Tuesday we will turn in our cookie dough on Wednesday. IF YOU ARE AVAILABLE TO HELP IN COUNTING MONEY FOR COOKIE DOUGH BETWEEN 10:40 AM – 1:10 PM ON WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY PLEASE CONTACT ME.  Counting the money with help will allow for me to be more accurate, catch mistakes faster, and turn in the orders to the company sooner so that we can get a closer delivery date. Part of that is my time that I am usually at the middle school and part of that time is my planning. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you all and stay safe!

Marching Band Rehearsal

Good afternoon,

Just a heads up that students are welcome to attend our marching band rehearsal tonight at the Stadium here at the high school. Our high school marching band is rehearsing their show for upcoming competitions and I think that it would be a great way for our students to get a taste of marching band for next year. They will get to watch them rehearse and see the processes that we go through to make a show come to life.

I will be at rehearsal today as I am at every marching rehearsal. I recommend coming closer to when the sun is down so that you are not sitting in the stands facing the sun. The sun begins setting around 7:40 so that would be a great time to come and visit.

Let me know if you have any questions!

District Honor Band/Cookie Dough/Carowinds/8th Grade Night

Good morning,

Here are some reminders for the week:

Revtrak website to pay for items online!

District Honor Band:

Timeline and Calendar:

Each school in Georgia is zoned to a district, ours is in district seven.  Each district is given audition materials to distribute to our students and an audition is held, two large bands are picked from the highest scoring students at the auction to make up the district honor band event which is held during the second semester.  We will work on audition materials in class and it is my hope that your child will audition for the DHB. District Honor Band participation and All-State Band Participation is looked at very highly by colleges and employers because of the extra time and the personal responsibility it takes to successfully audition and make one of these prestigious bands.

September 20th – All forms and Fees are due. $5 for DHB or $25 for DHB and All-State Fees.

After school help sessions: Every Wednesday after school until 4:15 (with the help of our high school band members)

December 2nd – District Honor Band Auditions.  We will be taking a bus up to the audition and having dinner afterwards together as a group.  (More info TBA)

Cookie Dough:

Our cookie dough fundraiser has one week left! It is due on the 11th of September and it will assist our program in so many ways. Keep in mind that for 8th graders each box sold earns them $3 off of their Carowinds trip. Every ten boxes sold earns you a free box that you can sell and put towards your trip as well. Many of us get sick of fundraisers but they are vital to keeping our program running. Thank you for your help.

.

Trip Date:  Friday, May 4th – Sunday May 6th

Trip Cost:  $220 per person (add $85 if you would like a single room.)

Chaperone Cost: $150 per person (add $85 if you would like a single room.)

Your $50 payment will serve as your commitment.

8th Grade Night!

October 6th Home Game against Villa Rica!!

I am extremely excited for our 8th grade night because the high school band program is ready to spoil our 8th graders. 8th grade night is a requirement for all 8th graders and is a night where they join the high school band for a football game, play in the stands with them and watch them perform their half time show. We feed the students, play games and give them a t shirt to help them remember the night of fun. This will not cost your student a penny! We want for them to get a preview of what high school band is all about. Please mark this on your calendar and let me know if you have any questions. More info to be handed out in late September.

Please notify me with any questions that you may have. SELL COOKIE DOUGH!!
