LoC Volunteer Opportunity and Announcements

Good evening,

If any adult or student would like to volunteer their time to work at our high school band competition, you may sign up below by clicking the link below. We need various types of volunteers and it is a great way to get to know the high school family and band program.

Students may also count these hours for their clubs that require hours of volunteer service. Students last year knocked out most of their hours for the year with this one day.

Legacy of Champions Band Competition Volunteers

Please let me know if you have any questions.

The shirts and hats came in on Friday so those will be handed out tomorrow.

Info and the schedule are posted below:

4:45 PM students need to be dropped off at high school band room (behind away bleachers of Grisham Stadium).

*Students may stay after school with me at the JH and I will walk them down around 4:15 to the high school if they do not want to go home and come back*

5:00 PM Warm up in high school band room

5:30 PM play at football game and cheer on the football team

6:30 PM (roughly) Half Time: students come to high school band room to eat pizza.

7:00 PM (roughly) Students may be picked up from high school band room to go home

If you are volunteering then we will need your help around 4:45 in the high school band room to get things set up for when the students come in at Half Time to eat.

Beginning this week District Honor Band students will meet at 7:45 on Thursday mornings to work with me on their requirements for their audition.

Wednesday is our usual day for beginner students who just joined band this year and are on their first year of that instrument. Remember that beginners should be enrolled in private lessons.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Sincerely,

M. Menendez

Trojan Band Games

Good morning,

Below is a electronic copy of the form your students are bringing home today if they are in Trojan Band.

Trojan Band Week of Info

I am excited for our first game next Thursday! If you are interested in volunteering please email me at maria.menendez@carrolltoncityschools.net

Optional Wednesday help sessions:

This year we have been spoiled with almost 20 new band members joining our band family. Some students have transferred in and want to try band while others have heard from their friends in class and wanted to be a part of what we do. Please make sure that if your student is new that they are coming to Wednesday help sessions.

I understand that life is busy and that they may not make every Wednesday, but the more they show up, the faster I can catch them up. They are in classes with students that have been playing their instruments for up to three years so it is difficult for me to teach beginners at the same time as veteran players. I want them to feel great about what they are doing and I want them to be an active musician with us.

Please contact me if you have any questions or if your beginner has still not signed up for private lessons.

Thank you to the incredible parents who helped count cookie dough money last week and this week! I could not have done it without you. I am so thankful for people like you who dedicate time to our program.

Cookie dough should come in October 10th or 11th. More info to come soon.

Sincerely,

M. Menendez

Trojan Band Rehearsal/Private Lessons

Good evening,

On Tuesday we have our one and only Trojan Band Rehearsal after school until 4:30. We will rehearse in the JH Band room and have a blast! Please be prepared to pick up your student at 4:30 in the car rider line in front of the JH.

Our first game is Thursday September 27th at Grisham Stadium. More info to come soon!

If your student is interested in private lessons and they have not been set up yet please email me at maria.menendez@carrolltoncityschools.net

I have PLENTY of musicians ready to teach lessons to your students. If your student wanted to take private lessons but has not heard anything yet to set them up, please let me know. I will get those going for you.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Sincerely,

M. Menendez

Cookie Dough/Private Lessons/Chair Placements

Good afternoon,

Cookie Dough is due this Tuesday, the 11th of September.

  • Please remember that our 8th graders earn $3 towards their Carowinds trip per each box sold. This is an incredible deal!

Let’s have one last push before Tuesday to sell as much as we can. Thank you for your work so far.

Please ask those students who are interested in private lessons to begin checking their Trojan student emails. The instructors have started emailing them to set up lesson times. If you have any questions you may add me in on the emails and we can get you going as soon as possible.

Congratulations to everyone on a great first chair test for the year! We heard some great auditions and lots of growth.

Below are the chair results for the Fall Concert.

Good afternoon,

Our first chair test of the year will be this Thursday the 6th during class. To help with practicing I have uploaded a recording of both etudes so that students may practice along with it.

Happy practicing!
