Saturday June 1st Work Day

Good afternoon,

After speaking with my administration they suggested that we work before June 3rd and 4th due to the floors being waxed.

The work day will be from 9AM to noon on June 1st at the CJHS Band room. With this schedule change please let me know if you are still available so that I can have an estimated head count for lunch that day.

I will see some of you soon and thanks again to the volunteers!

Sincerely,

Ms. Menendez

June 3rd/4th Volunteer Work Dates

Good morning,

I sincerely hope that you all are resting and enjoying your well deserved summer! I am excited to begin mine as well. A quick thank you to all of you for your help this year but also for the gifts that I received at the end of the year. I am truly thankful for all of you and your thoughtfulness.

I am looking to have a work day in early June to do some tasks in our band room and could use some help. We will spray the music stands black, organize instruments and textbooks, and give the band room a deep clean. We may even knock some copies out for August as well as put together some new instruments!

If you are available to volunteer please let me know at your earliest convenience what day will work better for you. We will work from 9- Noon on whichever day works for most of us and I will provide some lunch for the volunteers.

Please let me know if you are interested by emailing me at maria.menendez@carrolltoncityschools.net

I am also looking to speak to donors or companies who are willing to donate instruments or money to purchase instruments. If you for some reason know someone who is interested in making a contribution to our band program, please let me know. Our school system is generous and provides adequate funding for our band program but as our program grows, so does our need for high quality instruments!

On top of that, if you have any ideas for new fundraisers for next year, please let me know.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Ms. Menendez

Congratulations!

Good afternoon,

We have had an incredible couple of weeks!

This past weekend our 8th grade band enjoyed their highly anticipated trip to Charlotte, North Carolina to perform in the Carowinds Amusement Park. Thank you students for a great time and chaperones for working so hard to keep our kids safe! Enjoy some pictures below of our trip!

Our Spring Concert on Tuesday was unbelievable! Jazz Band, 7th Grade, and 8th Grade had fantastic performances of their pieces and played with focus and energy. I personally felt like that was our smoothest run concert so far and could not be more proud of the hard work that our students put in, especially with two weeks of Milestone testing. The band staff and parents that helped before, after, and during the concert are part of what made the concert run so smoothly. Please know that our program would not be the way it is without your support.

This has been an unbelievable year. There are many times where a students or a parent stepped in and helped. They made our year run smoothly and allowed for me to focus on my teaching and making sure that our students had fun. I feel spoiled rotten with this band community and am so excited to continue working with many of you next year and beyond. Thank you!

Coming up:

Rookie Camp 5/13-5/15 required for all 8th graders participating in marching band. 4-6 PM

Marching band fees: Due 5/17 (8th grade only)

Last day of playing instruments: 5/13
