District Honor Band Auditions: 12/3 at 11 am.

The District honor band audition time for CJHS is 11 AM this Saturday December, 3rd at Cartersville Middle school. You all can carpool and enjoy a nice meal afterwards on your way home. Please plan on being there around 10.30 to warm up so that you can be in like at 11. Students should wear semi formal clothing. No jeans, t shirts, or tennis shoes, please! Good luck and we are SO proud of you!

Percussion Ensemble and Jazz Band Rehearsal: Tuesday and Wednesday until 4:15

I am excited to start up both our percussion ensemble and our jazz band here at CJHS. Both ensembles are open to all CJHS band students and cost no money to participate. No auditions are required.

• Percussion will rehearsal on Mondays accept for THIS Monday as I have a prior commitment at Cass Middle School. This is the only week that we will have Percussion Ensemble on a Tuesday. We will still rehearse until 4:15.
• Jazz band will be every week on Wednesday until 4:15.

Jacket Order:

Our annual jacket order is now live! If you would like to purchase a band jacket, please click below. You are able to add your name and instrument on there as well for a small fee. These jackets are comfortable and very durable.

7th graders may purchase the “8th graders only” jacket but I would recommend going a size up or two. This jacket is required for ALL high school band members so many 8th graders purchase it their 8th grade year to reduce some of their fees at the beginning of their freshman year.

Veterans Day Assembly: Wind Ensemble Only

Our Wind Ensemble will be providing music for all of the Veterans Day ceremonies being held in the CHS gymnasium on Friday.  Here is what you will need to know to make sure they are prepared:

• Wind Ensemble band members should arrive at CJHS in full uniform on Friday.  They will not have time to change before or after the event.
• They will check in with their first-period teacher and then come straight to the band room to leave.
• They will be with me all day at the CHS Gymnasium performing, I will provide them lunch at the CHS band room.  (***Volunteers needed at 10:45am at the CHS band room please email me)
• We will be back in time for dismissal at CJHS.

Schedule:

8:15 AM Bus departs CJHS to bring students to CHS gym

(students who have a late bus will grab instruments and walk to CHS gym at their earliest convenience.

10:00 am  CHS #1 (Juniors & Seniors) (CJHS Band students watch ceremony)

Reinhardt University Performance:

Congratulations to our Wind Ensemble members on a terrific performance on Friday! They played with passion and beauty! The audience thoroughly enjoyed the performance and had nothing but kind things to say to our students and staff after the concert. Thank you to the students for their preparation as well as our parents who helped move equipment, take photos, and feed us. Our school system and band program were represented with pride on Friday. Please enjoy the photos below of the special day.

Fall Concert:

Our entire Junior High band program played a fabulous concert on Monday night at the Mabry Arts Center. All three bands performed and rocked out their pieces for our home crowd. Sharing music with our community is one of our biggest honors. Thank you to all that were in attendance and I look forward to our next concert on December 13th at 6 pm.

Carowinds (8th grade only):

Please ensure that all Carowinds accounts for students and chaperones are up to date. Students who sold chocolate will receive their credit on their trip once the first payment has been successfully made. I hope to get the credit applied on the trips this week. Fall Concert Tomorrow Night 10/17

Our first concert of the year is tomorrow Monday, October 17th at 7 PM. Report time for all students is 6:15. This concert will occur at the Mabry Arts Center on the CHS campus.

Dress is all black: Dress pants, long skirt, long dress, black socks, black shoes (no tennis shoes, crocks, converse, etc.) and a black nice shirt, sweater, button up shirt or black polo. From far away, we will look extremely professional as all students will be in all black.

*SPECIAL NOTE: Wind Ensemble members will wear all black pants, socks, shoes, etc. but will receive their performance polo for our Reinhardt performance on Monday to wear that night. Those polos have already been purchased and sized for our students. No payments are requried.*

Our Wind Ensemble has been honored as the Guest Honor Band at the Reinhardt University Middle School Honor Band on Friday, October 21st. If you would like to chaperone please email me.
