Now that festival is done let’s all make an effort to sell more AYP cards. I have around 1/3 of my cards still waiting to be sold. We will sell until we are out so please, Sell! Sell! Sell!

The CJHS 8th grade band finished LGPE tonight with a spectacular performance and earned all Superior ratings from every judge both on stage and in sight reading. 

Thank you to all the chaperones who came with us tonight to help keep the kids safe and pointed in the right direction. 

A big shout out to Ben Gordon our trailer driver, Ben doesn’t have a child in any of the bands anymore at CJHS or CHS but still volunteers his time to drive the truck for all my events. He is certainly a special person. We couldn’t do it without him. 

I am so proud of how hard all of my STUDENTS have worked and how dedicated they are to me and the beautiful music they create together on stage. 

Thank you PARENTS for your commitment to the band program. Your support for your child’s music education is clearly seen through your actions and reflected on stage through our wonderful performances.

Congratulations are in order for the 7th grade band who traveled to South Paulding HS today and performed excellently.  They received a rating of “Excellent” on stage with a “Superior” rating in sight reading.  The band students did a great job through all phases of the day and represented our school with class and pride in all that they did.

Thanks again to all who came along on the trip as a chaperone, I couldn’t do it without you.

I look forward to taking the 8th grade band tomorrow after school.  They perform at 8pm at South Paulding HS.  8th grade chaperones can meet outside the band room tomorrow after school.  All parents are invited to make the trip to South Paulding HS to watch.

The truck is packed, the forms turned in, the busses are gassed up and ready to go. 7th grade is ready for a great performance tomorrow. Here are  a couple of things to remember:

• Students should arrive at school in full uniform. Shirt tucked in. 
• They should check in and come straight to the band room around 8am. Chaperones can also meet outside the band room at this time. 
• We will be leaving around 8:30am and should be back by 3pm.

Here are some important updates as we get ready for next week:

Festival Chaperones

If you emailed me or signed up at the concert I have recorded your name and assume you will be joining us. I will be paying for your meal in exchange for your help. 

Wednesday March 8th

• 7th grade Chaperones please arrive at 8am to the CJHS band room. Dress casual clothing will be appropriate. We should be back by around 3pm. 

Thursday March 9th

• 8th grade Chaperones please arrive at 3:30pm to the CJHS band room. Dress casual clothing will be appropriate. We should be back by around 10pm. 

A more detailed itinerary and plan will be handed to you when you arrive. 

Festival Permission Forms and $12

Please turn them in ASAP, almost everyone has turned them in so far. No student will be allowed to go without parent permission and emergency contact info. 

AYP Fundraiser

Please sell some more this weekend. We are 2/3 of the way through. Please make an effort to sell sell sell. 

Carowinds

Most students have three payments of $50 in by now and are earning $3 per AYP card toward their trip. Remember that cookie dough counted as well ($3 per box sold). I will be doing a final balance at the end of the AYP fundraiser. PLEASE SELL AYP CARDS !!!!

Thanks again everyone for all the lovely emails about the concert as well. Both of these groups of kids are very special and make coming to work a pleasure everyday. 

Thank you so much for a fabulous performance last night. All of our bands that are attending festival this year are on the right track towards another fine showing at LGPE. 

We will not have any other after school rehearsals this week, including jazz band.   The band room will be open each morning for makeups. 

I will hand out any permission forms to those that did not get one in last night. Please remember to send in $12 for the meal next week. If you cannot afford this please email me and we will make sure your child is paid for. 

KEEP SELLING AYP CARDS. WE HAVE QUITE A FEW LEFT.

Hello All,

I thought I would send out a few friendly reminders about the activities happening this week in band as we have a few of them.

Tuesday – Pre-LGPE (festival) Concert   7 – 8:45pm

• 7th graders arrive in full uniform, shirt tucked in, at 6:30pm and report to the stage.
• 8th graders arrive at 6:45pm in full uniform, shirt tucked in, and report to the blocked off area of seats with instruments put together.
• This will will be a very long concert with a lot of fantastic music, if you need to leave before the end please do so between bands during the transition and not during a bands set.  I would ask that all JH band students watch each other before leaving.

FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS

I will have a sign-up sheet at the concert for those that wish to come.  I have around 6 – 7 parents that have contacted me about coming as a chaperone.  I will need much more help.  If you can come and help the band I will pay for your lunch / dinner.  Please consider coming and helping out, this is one of the most fun events of the year for the kids.

AYP CARD SALES AT THE CONCERT
