Welcome back! I hope that the students had a nice break this week. We have quite a few things coming up so please read below and have your calendars ready to go.
Braves game volunteers and itinerary:
I am so excited to travel this Saturday to watch the Atlanta Braves at SunTrust Park! We have some very important details leading into Saturday that the students and chaperones must be aware of. Students will sign up in groups of 4 tomorrow and Tuesday. This group will travel together and will have a chaperone that ensures their safety at all times.
If you are an adult going on the trip I need to know ASAP if you are available to chaperone. We need as many chaperones as possible. Please be aware that if you are coming with a spouse or adult family member and your groups do not want to combine that you may end up separating to stay with your kids. This will not be for long as the kids will come to their seats for the game but before hand different groups may want to eat or hang out in different locations inside the park. I appreciate your flexibility and your help ensuring that the kids have a night to remember!
Below is the itinerary for Saturday, the 13th:
Report to school: 3:00 PM
Bus Departs: 3:30 PM
Arrival: 5:00 PM= groups walk around to eat, play games and explore park with chaperone
Report to seats: 7:00 PM
Game starts: 7:30 PM
Departs: 11:00 PM
Arrive: 12:30 AM
Marching Percussion Clinics (April 15 – 19) 4:00PM – 6:00PM
Clinics for all percussionists to learn marching percussion techniques and determine instrument assignments for the fall.
Color Guard Clinic/Auditions (April 15 – 19) 4:00PM – 7:00PM
Clinics for all students interested in auditioning for the Fall Color Guard. No experience is necessary to attend the clinics. Please wear athletic clothing and bring a great attitude! Membership in the fall color guard is required for students to participate winter guard activities, except current 7th graders who may participate as 8th graders.
Jazz band rehearsals: Monday and Wednesday at 7:45 AM
Jazz Band has been invited to perform at the CJHS Honor’s Night in the Mabry Arts Center! We will report and set up at 5:45 and will perform music as people are walking in until around 6:30. 7th grade band students have an after school band rehearsal for their Spring Concert on that Monday. If your 7th grader is in jazz band then they may walk over to the MAC with me that evening.
School Dance:
Our band is in charge of concessions at the school dance. As we usually have done in the past, I am asking band members to donate certain items for the dance. The band will purchase candy, gatorade, and pizza while the band members will donate sodas and chips. Below are the requirements:
Woodwinds: Sodas (1-2) 12 pack of either Coke, Sprite or Dr. Pepper. 12 oz cans please.
Brass/Percussion: Chips: One variety pack of chips of your choice. These chips are the size of chips that you would get as a side at a sandwich shop.
We are aiming to sell these items conveniently at the dance and quickly which is why this size is a perfect size for us.
If you would like to volunteer to work the concession stand or to help with set up/tear down please fill out the form below.
School dance is April 26th from 6-9. Set up volunteers are asked to show up at 4:30 and tear down volunteers may be asked to stay until 10:00PM. Concessions will show up around 5:00.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Sincerely,
M. Menendez
