Pre-LGPE – February 25

On February 25 our bands will perform a Pre-LGPE Concert at the Mabry Arts Center on campus. At this concert we will have adjudicators make comments on our performance to help us to better prepare for our Large Group Performance Evaluations in March. Students should wear their concert uniform which includes black dress pants, black dress shoes and socks, and their black performance polos. We will share this concert with the high school band. CJHS students are dismissed after the 8th grade performance concludes. I highly recommend staying though to hear as many high school performances as possible!

Notice that this concert starts earlier than normal. Once again, report time is 5:30 for all CJHS band students.

  • 6:00PM CJHS 7th Grade
  • 6:30PM CJHS 8th Grade
  • 7:00PM CHS Concert Band
  • 7:30PM CHS Symphonic Band
  • 7:45PM CHS Wind Ensemble

AYP Fundraiser

Our AYP Fundraiser has officially started. These discount cards have fantastic coupons and deals that our community loves to use. This fundraiser allows us to purchase music, instruments, and supplies for our band program. Thank you for your help!

Instructions for the fundraiser:

  1. Use your order taker card to show people the incredible deals that these cards have to offer.  Each card is $15 and has unlimited uses up to a year at participating locations.
  2. Bring the $15 to Ms. Menendez in a sealed envelope and you will receive an AYP card the next day to distribute to your buyers.

REWARDS:

  1. For every 5 cards sold you will receive 1 free.  (Try and sell 5 before you buy one yourself)
  2. 8th grade receives $3 off of their Carowinds trip for every card sold!

Students will receive a physical copy of this this week.

The fundraiser concludes when we sell out of cards.

Trip Meeting – February 27

If your student would like to go on the upcoming band trip to Philadelphia and Washington DC during the Spring of 2021, we will have an information meeting on February 27 in the Band Room at 7PM. This is for rising 9th graders who will be in the high school band program next year. It is an informational meeting.

Jazz Band Guest Artist:

On Friday, Brandyn Taylor, a professional saxophone player and Vandoren artist, will work with our reed players in our woodwind classes including demonstrations, free samples, and more! He will then stay after school and work with our Jazz Band students until 4:30 to teach improvisation and jazz style. Brandyn’s bio can be found here. Students who are not in jazz band may stay after to hear Brandyn’s amazing playing and teaching.
