There is also a schedule for the year and a breakdown of the costs. We have the lowest band fees of the surrounding counties!

I hope that you have stayed cool in this heat! We are entering our last week of school for the year and have a few more things left to finish up.

This Tuesday is our final band concert for the year! It will be a night full of challenging music that is entertaining. Our jazz band will also perform which will be a treat for those of you who have not heard them yet.

Report time for Tuesday is 6:30 and attire is all black. Dress pants (no jeans please), black socks, black belt if possible and the black band polo. Concert begins at 7:00PM.

It is expected that your student stays for the entire concert. We have students each time that leave once the 7th grade band has completed their performance. I cannot stress enough how important it is for the 7th grade to watch the 8th grade performance and for the 8th graders to watch the 7th grade performance. It is a powerful teaching moment for the students. Our concerts are kept as short as possible in order to respect your time. The students have worked extremely hard and deserve to have a full house to hear the final product.

Thank you very much to the volunteers who helped with the surprise. The kids were ecstatic and we had a blast hanging out with each other as we handed out awards.

We had an incredible time this weekend with the 8th grade band in Charlotte, North Carolina. The students were very well behaved, polite and the chaperones did absolutely every thing that they could to ensure that all students were safe and had fun.

Our 8th grade band performed at the Carowinds Festival of Music on Saturday and received incredible scores from the judges. We received a Superior rating along with all A’s in every single category! I felt such a sense of pride in our program throughout the whole weekend and I look forward to making music for a couple more weeks with these students. This was a memorable trip for sure!

Tuesday is a rehearsal day for our band as their Spring Concert is Tuesday May 15th at 7:00PM at the Mabry Arts Center.

8th grade rehearses during 5th and 6th block. 

7th rehearses after school from 3:30-5:00 PM. 

This is our only rehearsal for the Spring Concert and it will be a fun one!

Our last jazz band rehearsal is this Wednesday until 4:30.

Jazz Band will report to the MAC tomorrow with their instruments at 5:45. We will perform between 6:00-6:25 as people are walking into find their seats. Please wear business casual attire.

Carowinds Health Forms:

Please fill out and return the Carowinds Health Form if you have not done so already. Students must have this filed out and turned in to travel.

Band BBQ is this Thursday! All 8th grade band members are invited to perform with the high school band! Please report to the high school band room at 5:30 in your “I’m with the band” shirt. Performance starts at 6:00.

School Dance: Our first annual school dance was a HUGE success. The students had a tremendous time! I want to thank every single person who donated items and volunteered in any way to make the concessions run smoothly. You all are incredible! Our program ended up gaining a almost $900 off of one night of fundraising. I am excited for our students to benefit from the funds raised this past Friday. Congratulations to you!

A quick reminder about our donations that we are accepting for the school dance. The Band is in charge of concessions and will gain all profit from it. The band is purchasing pizza, Gatorade, and candy while the students are donating sodas and chips. Please get these in as soon as possible!

I would like to recap what I went over with our students today in class. Our band is in charge of concessions at the school dance. As we usually have done in the past, I am asking band members to donate certain items for the dance. The band will purchase candy, gatorade, and pizza while the band members will donate sodas and chips. Below are the requirements. Each student knows which of the two categories that they fall into.

Sodas:

(1-2) 12 pack of either Coke, Sprite or Dr. Pepper

(1-2) 2-Liter bottles of Coke, Sprite or Dr. Pepper

Chips: One variety pack of chips of your choice. These chips are the size of chips that you would get as a side at a sandwich shop.

We are aiming to sell these items conveniently at the dance and quickly which is why this size is a perfect size for us.

If you would like to volunteer to work the concession stand or to help with set up/tear down please fill out the form below.
