Trojan Band Championship Schedule

Hello Trojan Band Parents,

I am sure by now your child has come home with a red bus permission form and you are wondering what the schedule is for this week.  This is a very unique situation and I am glad that we will have the opportunity to travel and play for the final game.  However, with early release schedule it makes it interesting.  We will offer a “stay after school” option but it will mean your child hanging out under supervision from 12:30 – 4:30, so if they can go home and come back that would be the best possible situation.

Schedule as it currently stands:

12:30 – 4:00:  Hang out at school, or students can go home and come back by at least 4:00 to load and board busses at 4:30pm.

4:00pm:  Load trailer

4:30pm:  Leave for Bremen High School Stadium

5pm:  Arrive grab equipment and head in for the game.

5:30pm: Game Starts

6:30pm:  Half time pizza and chips and drinks at the trailer

7:30pm:  Game Ends

8pm:  Arrival back at CJHS for parent pickup

If we are behind or ahead of schedule I can’t see it being by more or less than 30 min.  I will need a lot of parent volunteers for this game, for both pizza, supervision, packing and unpacking, and riding the bus as chaperones.  Please email me if you can chaperone or tick the box on the permission slip.

Thanks everyone, we are looking forward to it, and seeing you all at conferences this week.

8th Grade Night Date Change

Hello 8th grade band parents,

Looking ahead at the calendar Mr. Carr had a great idea about our 8th grade night activities. He wanted the 8th grade students to come and play along with the high school band during our October 31st matchup against Sandy Creek High School. The rivalry and the atmosphere will be very exciting for the kids to be a part of.

We also have a few ideas about the 8th graders performance that will extend beyond just pre-game and maybe in to halftime. More info to be announced at a later date.

Please mark your calendar for our rehearsal to be after school with the high school band on October 30th from 6-8pm and our performance to be October 31st from 5-10pm.

Again this is for all 8th grade band members. Please mark your calendar.

Thanks

6th Grade Instrument Nights

Just a friendly reminder that Tuesday and Wednesday this week we will be holding our instrument sale for all 6th grade parents.

They will start at 5:30pm where we will start with a brief meeting and run until 8pm each night.

If you have trouble coming on your particular night you may come on the other night available. Keep in mind our goal is to make the meetings as short and efficient as possible.

Remember you child does not have to come with you if they have homework or another activity to attend.

Thanks and we will see you all this week.

6th Grade Instrument Nights Next Week

Hello all 6th grade parents,

I am wrapping up instrument screenings and I am sure your child has come home and told you what they have decided to play in band.

DONT BUY ANYTHING!!!!!!

I have strict guidelines as to what types of brands and models I like to have in band class so that we can get the best sound. These instruments will all be available at our instrument nights next week.

September 2nd (first 6th grade band class) and September 3rd (second 6th grade band class) from 5:30-8pm will be our instrument nights.

Please plan on being their at 5:30 for a very brief meeting with the Music and Arts Representatives. Then we will begin the instrument rental process. As soon as you are done you can leave. This doesn’t usually take all the way until 8pm. If your child has an after school activity to attend that is ok as long as you come.

We will be renting flutes, clarinets, alto saxes, trumpets, trombones, and percussion kits. Any French horn, baritone and tuba players can come to get their mouthpieces, and books etc…

I do have French horns students may use as
school owned instruments but I highly recommend renting a single horn.

If you have any questions you can always email me or Ms. Menendez.

I look forward to seeing you next week.

Thanks

Joe Huls
