I hope that you all have had an extremely restful time off from school. I personally feel rejuvenated and ready to nail the rest of the semester!
As you read the schedule below please ensure that your student is practicing today and tomorrow. Instrumentalists are like athletes and have muscles that can get in and out of shape. If your student has not touched their instrument all break and returns to school on Monday then we will have to work a lot on catching up rather than moving forward towards our concert.
Monday December 2nd: 7th grade rehearsal
Tuesday December 3rd: 8th grade rehearsal
Saturday December 7th: District Honor Band auditions (see schedule below)
Tuesday December 10th: Winter Concert
Thursday December 13-14th: UGA MidFest Honor Band
Friday December 20th: Carowinds December payment due
District Honor Band:
Below is the schedule for Saturday, December 7th for those of you auditioning for District Honor Band:
The bus departs at 11:00 from the JH school Saturday morning. Please make sure that your student has all of their music and their instrument with them. Students may not wear jeans and need to dress at least business casual for this audition.
Students will need about $10 for lunch at a pizza buffet on the way home if they plan on riding the bus back.
I am hoping that the students will be home earlier than 5:30 PM. The students will be in contact with you when they are leaving the pizza buffet so that you can have an accurate time to pick them up from the JH school.
The actual Carrollton audition time is at 2:00 but since I am set to work in the warm up area that Saturday I will try to push our kids through a little earlier so that they can go home sooner! Students riding separately need to arrive around 12:45 for a quick warm up and then get in line around 1:15.

I am looking for a chaperone or two to ride with the students to and from auditions on the school bus. Your lunch will be covered and it would be really appreciated!

Your students are aware of a really useful app called Tonal Energy and may want to purchase a version of their own. Below is the website for the application. Please consider investing in this app or purchasing a metronome/tuner combo for your students. It will help them in many ways!
Quick Reminders:
Please make sure that those who needed an extension on the Carowinds down payment turn in their money as soon as possible.
Make sure that your student practices today and tomorrow to get the muscles back in shape.
Also, please let me know if you need help tracking down a pair of black dress shoes or black dress pants for your students. They must have formal shoes and pants for their concerts at the Junior High. If you have anything from previous concerts that your student have grown out of, please consider donating to the band program.
