Month: October 2017

Wow!

Good morning,

I am so proud of our band this week. We had the honor of meeting Casey Cooper on Thursday followed by an exciting Trojan Band Game (“DON’t LET THEM SCORE!!!”) and THEN a highly successful 8th Grade Night! There were around two hundred and 60 band members in the stands last night. The stadium was alive and with the help of our 8th graders the band was able to pump up the crowd to support our boys on the field. There was a lot of dancing, laughter, and music going on! I am so thankful for all of the parent help recently whether it is through Trojan Band, handing out cookie dough, or just asking me “What can I do to help?” when I need it most. A special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Jones who provided a trailer for us to haul our instruments to and from the band room these past two days and Mr. Ben Gordon for helping drive the trailer. I love being a part of this family and I hope that your students appreciate this family too. Feel free to send me pictures if you would like for me to post them here in our website for others to see.

Cookie Dough Corrections are due Monday morning. Please email me your corrections.

If you 8th grader was NOT at 8th grade night please send me an email with an excuse so that their grade is not deducted.

Our next Trojan Band Game is October the 19th. I am waiting for details about that game to see if we will attend.

Have a GREAT weekend and wish our high school band luck as we compete today at the Central Carroll Marching Competition!

A Busy Thursday!

Good morning,

We have a lot going on today and 8th grade night tomorrow so here are some reminders.

If your student did not get their cookie dough yesterday than they may pick it up today. The delivery truck came at 2:30 and even with a tremendous effort from our volunteers, we could not get it sorted in time for the 3:30 dismissal.

Trojan Band: We have a Trojan Band game today. Usual schedule will be followed. Report time in full uniform is 4:45 at the high school band room.

New Drum Set and Casey Cooper Day!: My high school friend, Casey Cooper, will be delivering our brand new drum set today and working with our percussionist in 8th grade and after school with any student who is interested in staying. Casey is a professional drum set player and is sponsored by Pearl, Zildjian, Vic Firth, and is the top subscribed Youtube drummer of all time. With over1.5 MILLION subscribers and many views he taking the world by storm. I have attached a link to his channel below and his website. Our students are very fortunate to meet  a celebrity in the music world and I look forward to sharing that experience with them. If you would like to come in and meet Casey you may come after school at 3:30 and join us. We will end around 4:20 so that we can walk to the high school band room.

8th Grade Night:

8th grade night is tomorrow. Report time is 4:45 at the high school band room and I recommend that they do NOT wear shorts. Tennis shoes, pants, and a jacket will be best. They will receive their t shirt and much more when they arrive tomorrow. The schedule will be posted again tomorrow morning so that you have it.

Thank you so much for your support!

Sincerely,

M. Menendez
